Android challenging Symbian

Android to become number 2 Mobile Operating System in 2010 ,challenging Symbian for number 1 position by 2014 .Currently Android is all set for the race to capture the Mobile Market and this Earth apparently.
Gartner predicts that by 2014, mobile  markets will have 265 million Symbian-based phones , while Android will power about 260 million phones and Apple’s iOS will power 130 million devices. Gartner puts other operating systems (includes Samsung's Bada OS and HP's WebOS ) at 85 million devices in 2014. The major market players for Mobile OS are Symbian , Android , iOS and Research In Motion .


Gartner predicts that by 2014, open-source platforms will continue to dominate more than 60 percent of the market for smartphones.
